Council Members

The digital environment provides young people with vast resources and opportunities for growth, but it also increases their exposure to predators. Meet our council members who are committed to helping their peers learn how to stay safe when they are online. 

Tihitina

Ethiopia

Tihitina is 18 years old and is a participant in one of ChildFund’s partners, the Love for Children and Family Development Organization. She is grade 12 student and is actively involved in different school clubs including Yenegew Memhir, which means tomorrow’s teacher. She is also a youth forum founder and chairperson. Tihitina is very active, sociable, and serving the community is her passion. As a member of the Children’s Advisory Council, Tihitina is eager to work on creating a web safe environment for children and young people, and contribute to driving change.

Ekram

Ethiopia

Ekram was born in the capital of Addis Ababa and lives with her parents, brother and three sisters. She is a Grade 9 student and actively involved in different clubs, including Aflatoun, the Youth Forum, and the sign language club at her school.

Thilothamma

India

Thilothamma is 17 years old. She is interested in learning about child rights, policies concerning children, and child protection stakeholders. Thilothamma shares her knowledge with other children, parents, and community leaders. As a member of the Children's Council, she is committed sharing the insights she has gained from the Child-friendly Accountability Mechanism. Thilothamma is also enthusiastic about collaborating with other members. Additionally, she is actively involved with youth clubs and adolescent girls, working to raise awareness about web safety and eager to promote a thoughtful and wise campaign.

Vignesh

India

Vignesh is 15 years old and very active in his local community. He organized the Child Friendly Accountability Mechanism and collected information on a rage of child-related issues in his community. Vignesh is also a member of the Climate Resilience and Carbon Reduction program. He wants to learn more about laws to protect children and how to solve challenges facing young people.

Vidi

Indonesia

Vidia ‘Vidi’ is 16 years old and is a member of the Student Council in her school, where she has gained leadership and public speaking skills. She is also a member of a Child and Youth Group and has a role as a youth facilitator. Vidi hopes to make new friends while increasing her skills in advocacy and communication as a member of the Council.

Melati

Indonesia

Melati is 16 years old. She is a member of the city’s Islamic Student Organization and is engaged with the local youth group in her city Semarang. She is also the school’s scientific youth group at her school. She hopes that she can give meaningful participation in the Children's Advisory Council and also learn from other youth around the globe to encourage young girls in her hometown to be brave to speak up.

Moises

Mexico

Moisés is 16 years old and is from Mexico. He is a member of ChildFund Mexico and has been part of programs and activities that have allowed him to connect with children of different ages and promote rights issues. As a member of the CAC, he hopes to receive information from the participants, connect with young people from other countries, learn how they live, how they participate and jointly seek alternative ways to solve the challenges that girls, boys and young people face in the online environment.

Diego

Mexico

Diego is 14 years old and describes himself as intelligent, expressive, and concrete. He has been involved in a range of youth groups including the Committee for the Rights of Girls and Boys of his municipality, Grow up without Violence, and My Voice Demands. Diego is interested in learning about the consequences of internet misuse, and how to prevent danger for children. He believes he can make valuable contributions on better use of the internet for young people.

Ashanti

Mozambique

Ashanti is 14 years old and is involved with the children's parliament of Mozambique, where she has met with representatives from the African Union. As a member of the Council, she hopes to learn from other members, support African youth, and promote African culture.

Heriberto

Paraguay

Heriberto is 14 years old, and describes himself as diligent and responsible. He is eager to share his knowledge and learn from the other advisors and children.

Camila

Paraguay

Camila is 17 years old and has been involved in school committees, school council, and has attended training provided by NGOs. She wants to learn from other children from other countries and understand the issues they are also facing. Camila describes herself as original, interesting, with great ideas.

Azumi

Philippines

Azumi is 16 years old and was Vice President of the Student School Council, a member of school-based teen centers, and a past recipient of ChildFund awards. Her goal is to connect with other young people and raise awareness around the dangers of child online exploitation. She describes herself as a great listener, affectionate, and compassionate.

John

Uganda

John is 16 years old and is part of the Child-friendly Accountability and Raising Voices clubs. As a member of the Council, he would like to learn about the issues affecting children in other countries, and gain more confidence from this experience. He describes himself as a team player, well informed, and wise.

Santa

Uganda

Santa is 14 years old and is involved in the Child-friendly Accountability Club, as well as music, drama, and debating clubs. She also plays for the netball and volleyball teams. Santa is a strong advocate for children's rights, particulary their rights to education, health, and protection. She has good leadership skills and enjoys helping other children. Santa hopes to learn how to present issues that affect children to different stakeholders, and is looking forward to networking with her peers.

Hong

Vietnam

Hong is 16 years and has attended the Vietnam's Children Forum, as well as the International Children's Festival. He has experience in engaging in social activities and is excited to learn more about what children think and collect new information to solve youth issues. He describes himself as happy, respectful, and meaningful.

Creating A Better Digital World With Children
